FAQ's

This scheme has been designed to give homebuyers of new build properties a way to dispute or make a formal complaint against the building developer if they do not believe their home has been built in accordance with the New Homes Quality Code.
This will allow homebuyers to seek compensation from the developer if their complaint is awarded in their favour.

The New Homes Quality Code has been put in place to give new homebuyers the peace of mind that they will be moving into a house that has been completed to a high standard. The new code will give extra protection to homebuyers even before they move in. It will also allow homebuyers to be able to instruct a professional snagging contractor to attend and carry out a pre-completion inspection before they move in to ensure any snagging items that are reported can be resolved prior to completion date.

The New Homes Ombudsman will make it a requirement for all developers to apply and then remain a member of the scheme. Where developers breach the requirement to be a part of the scheme the Ombudsman will be able to create an enforcement framework which will mean

If you have raised a formal complaint to your developer and do not feel that it has been addressed to your satisfaction, then you will be able then escalate this to the New Homes Ombudsman. The scheme is due to be launched towards the end of 2022 and more information will be provided nearer the launch date.

Any homebuyer that has bought a new build property from a developer. A developer can be defined by either those that have created new homes from construction of new buildings or new homes that have been created within existing ones such as conversions to new homes. Complaints can be raised about developers within the first two years of buying your new build property. This will cover issues with the home but also the quality of work by the developer and their conduct.

Testimonial

I have had the pleasure of working alongside Matt and the Simcott Team for a number of years. Throughout they have demonstrated an understanding of what Customer Service should look like to both the Client Developer and Homeowners. In a climate where post occupation Customer Service is so important to the overall Customer Journey, Simcott are my go to external provider for a professional and cost-effective service.
